GRE scores waived for Fall 2021 admissions

Recognizing ongoing complications for everyone brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, and acknowledging the pandemic’s disparate impact on potential applicants from underrepresented communities, the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech will waive GRE scores for the current recruiting cycle.  Applicants who do not submit GRE scores will be given full consideration and not be penalized.  Those who have taken the GREs

Congratulations Ran Liu!

Ran Liu who was selected to receive 2019 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad.  This scholarship award was created by the China Scholarship Council in 2003 to honor Chinese students with outstanding academic accomplishments. This is the highest award given by the Chinese government to graduate students studying at universities around the world.

Congratulations Alyssa Gatto!

Alyssa Gatto.  recently selected as a Southern Regional Education Board (SREB)-Doctoral Scholars Program (DSP) Dissertation Year Award recipient for 2020-2021.

The fellowship supports one year of her doctoral training and is funded through a partnership arrangement between SREB, the State of Virginia, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Congratulations Ya-Yun Chen!

Ya-Yun Chen was selected to receive the Government Scholarship to Study Abroad (GSSA) issued by Taiwan Ministry of Education. This is a two year scholarship to support her research proposal, A longitudinal neuroimaging investigation of aggressive and prosocial behaviors in parent-child dyads and the influence factors.

Girls Launch! Brings Female Scientists to Children Through ICAT Funded Project

How do kindergarten children know girls can be scientists? Girls Launch! is a Center for Communicating Science and Department of Psychology project that provides female scientist role models to kindergarten children. With a grant from the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT), we’ll be supporting 10 graduate students this summer in the creation of kindergarten-friendly videos.
