Dr. Lee Cooper and his team receive funding from the iTHRIVE Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies (PTC) Program

Congratulations to Dr. Lee Cooper and his graduate student team (Alyssa Gatto, Hayoung Ko, and Sydney Jones) for receiving approval for funding ($50,000) from the integrated Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia (iTHRIVE) Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies (PTC) Program.

The proposal entitled “A Comparison of the Effectiveness of Telepsychiatry with a Randomized Waitlist Control Utilizing Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) will be in collaboration with Carilion Clinic’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Anita Kablinger (Carilion Clinic-Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine) will serve as the PI and Dr. Cooper (VT-Department of Psychology) will serve as the Co-PI.

The proposed study will employ a waitlist control design that will allow the researchers to compare patients receiving telepsychiatry and repeated completion of PROMs to patients referred to psychiatry, but not receiving telepsychiatry treatment or routinely completing PROMs during the same time period.
