Warning: Scam Alert

It has come to our attention that there are continued fake solicitations, supposedly from Dr. Jones. Many students are receiving these through emails, like the one below. Often the emails end up in spam (where they should be), but sometimes students find them in their Inbox. Please IGNORE and delete these emails. Do not send money via Zelle or cash the fake check or send your bank/credit card information. You should contact the non-emergency Police Department line to make a  report. You should also reach out to your bank and inform them of the incident.

Subject: HIRING

The Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech urgently needs the services of students to work remotely as a research assistant gets paid weekly. The position is served remotely and assignments can be carried out in your leisure time. The position is open to students from any department of the institution. To proceed with the application process, contact Dr. Russell Jones now on ‪‪(623) 850-8406 via text message stating your full name, email address, year of study, and department to receive the job description and further application requirements.
