Short Bio
Dr. Margherio's work focuses on intervention development and evaluation for adolescents with or at-risk of externalizing difficulties and substance use problems. She specifically focuses on identifying cost-effective intervention strategies with potent, durable effects and disseminating such strategies in accessible spaces for teens (e.g., schools). With this focus, she hopes to bring increasingly equitable mental health practices to underserved, rural Appalachian communities. Dr. Margherio is also passionate about mentoring, the science of mentoring, and using strategic mentoring to bring underrepresented, minoritized individuals into biomedical science fields.
