The AND Lab is now recruiting families with children between 8 and 16 years of age to participate in a brain study. Both the parent(s) and child(ren) participation is needed for the study, which includes undergoing an MRI and a series of study sessions on social and emotional processing. Read on to learn more.
The guidelines for this study are as follows:
- Any family with 8 - 16 y/o children highly desired to undergo an MRI
- Both parent and child participation needed for the study
- Participate in a series of study sessions on social and emotional processing
- Session in Roanoke - scheduling is flexible
- Follow CDC and VT safety guidelines
- Study tasks include questionnaires, games, and MRI scanning
- MRI scans - 1.5 hours per participant - provide breaks
- Participants who complete brain scans receive a CD of their brain images
- Compensation: up to $100 for each participant ($20/hour, up to $260 for a family) + additional $0.20 per mile for round trip if scanning at the Roanoke Center (travel from Blacksburg)
FYI: Anyone who meets the age range is eligible to participate in this study (age range does not apply for parents), including those who have previously participated in the emotion regulation student under the AND Lab.
