Industrial and Systems Engineering faculty member Dr. Nathan Lau (PI), Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty member Dr. Ryan Williams (Co-I), and Psychology chair and faculty member Dr. Roseanne Foti (Co-I) received funding from the National Science Foundation for their proposal, Leadership Emergence for Synchronous Human-Autonomy Teaming. This four-year project generalizes knowledge from implicit leadership theory and leading and following dynamics in human teams to drone-human search and rescue teams. The team will conduct a series of experiments to understand how humans synchronize with autonomy on complex tasks, and how adapting interaction methods can promote collaborative performance and trust in autonomous agents.
Congratulations to all!
