Impact of COVID-19 on school-based services for teens with autism: The VT Center for Autism Research is conducting a study to understand how COVID-19 has impacted school based services for teens with autism. Parents of children ages 14 to 21 on the autism spectrum and school personnel who have experience with transition planning may be eligible.

Study participation will include an online survey and a one-hour Zoom interview. Please see our flyer for details (one for parents/caregivers and the other for school personnel)

Eligibility criteria for parents/caregivers:

•    Be a parent or caregiver of a child with autism between the ages ofl4 and 21 years old who receives special education services
•    Be at least 18 years of age
•    Be fluent in English
•    Have internet access

Eligibility criteria for school personnel:

•     Be school personnel (e.g., special education teacher, special education administrator)
•     Have experience working with students with ASD or transition planning
•     Be at least 18 years of age
•     Be fluent in English
•     Have Internet access

Participation will consist of the following:

Virginia Tech researchers will contact you to provide information about the project and to see if you are interested in participating.
If you are still interested in participating, researchers will then:

•    Provide links to an online survey
•    Schedule a one-hour Zoom interview with the agency leader

We are also interested in recruiting children with autism between the ages of l4 and 21 years to participate alongside their caregivers. However, your child does not need to participate if they are not interested in doing so.
